Church Administrative Assistant

Downtown Rochester- Part-time Position

Glory House International has a current opening for a part-time Administrative Assistant for approximately 25-30 hours per week. This is a pay per experience eligible position with an hourly salary ranging from $15 to $20 based on experience and requires availability to work three weekdays per week.

Job Description

The primary purpose of the Administrative Assistant is to facilitate communications, maintain calendar and assist with systems. They will provide skilled secretarial services and maintain accurate records, answer phone calls in a professional manner and welcome and assist members and visitors to GHI. This position plays a key role in helping to implement the mission of building people, building churches, and building families.

Responsibilities

Reception

  • Greet and assist members and visitors to the office, connecting them with the proper services
  • Answer phones, screen calls, and forwards to the appropriate team, as well as retrieves and answers or forwards messages from the voicemail system.
  • Provide information and assistance to team, members, and visitors by telephone, email, or in person.

Administrative

  • Serve as Executive Assistant for Executive Pastor as needed and assigned.
  • Order and maintain office/building supplies.
  • Utilize and maintain various aspects of the church database (CCB).
  • Manage church calendar and building access
  • Work alongside Building Manager to maintain positive relationships with tenets and community partners

Education, Experience, & Other Requirements

  • This position is for GHI members and those who have completed our new members class. 
  • High school diploma or an equivalent combination of related work experience, training and/or education sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Previous experience on church staff or ministry setting preferred.
  • Previous experience in administrative/clerical procedures, customer service, and Microsoft Office programs.

Building Manager

Downtown Rochester- Part-time Position

Glory House International has a current opening for a Building Manager. This is a compensation eligible position and consist of 15 hours a week with additional hours needed for special events and/or unusual circumstances

Job Description

The primary purpose of this role is to ensure a clean, safe, and well-kept environment. This position will serve as a point of contact to any contractors or partners GHI has (plow trucks, lawn companies, technicians, etc.). This position plays a key role in helping to implement the mission of building people, building churches, and building families.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises the custodial staff, other Building, and Grounds personnel, and volunteers to ensure that buildings, grounds, and equipment are properly maintained.
  • Supervises the custodial, other Building and Grounds personnel, volunteer workers, and contractual craftsmen in the operation, maintenance, and repair of heating equipment, lighting, ventilation, refrigeration, water, and waste disposal systems, floors, furniture, and all other equipment and systems.
  • Responsible for coordinating the use of church facilities with the Church Administrator.
  • Prepare and set up for all GHI events, ensuring cleanliness and building access
  • Determines the need for major repairs, remodeling, and the purchase of new equipment; prepares three necessary bid documents, and obtains bids or estimates, and implements approved plans with the approval of the Congregational Council.
  • Performs duties of a custodian or other Building and Grounds personnel as needed.
  • Oversee snow removal, salt application, lawn care of exterior building
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience 

  • Self-starter, capable of taking initiative while at the same time being responsible and accountable to other staff members with whom
  • High school diploma or an equivalent combination of related work experience, training and/or education sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Proven history of repairing, maintaining, and enhancing building needs preferred
  • Self-starter, capable of taking initiative while at the same time being responsible and accountable to other staff members with whom he or she will be working.
